That's me as well. I have always considered it a burden and have tried to destroy my finer (sensitive) qualities. It is only in recent times that I have been forced into a new realm of personal acceptance.

I have always wondered about Jesus as being "the word of God" and as we speak naturally, we form the word and project it. Jesus was the first utterance of God and the tool that helped craft the universe. In a way, we also define our universe by the use of language.
Just a thought.
Also, the Gospels reveal Jesus as refering to his father and it seems to me that the two are seperate and have rank.

Jesus refers to the father as being in a higher position.
Jesus is described as "the word". When we speak, we control the language that comes forth from our mouths

I have just read that passage several times and all I see is that Jesus is explaining to the grumbling disciples, that if they truly believe and have faith in him, then they will never hunger. He provides two profound examples to support his argument. Although he does not directly refer to faith, it appears to be the lesson to me.
There may well be a hidden numerical reference buried within. There often is.
If you divide "7" into "4", you get "0.5714285". Drop the "0" and take the "7" numbers and add them together. That brings you to "32". Path 32? Ask an occultist what that means - speculative, maybe.

JEHOVAH OR KARMA?
by Dansk inquite recently my family and i have had some excellent news or received some wonderful surprises.
up to a year ago we would have given jehovah the thanks for all these "blessings" - which just goes to show what a load of baloney that was!
we haven't prayed since we left the borg a year ago this month and we're happier and healthier than we've ever been.

Although I am not a betting man, I would hazard a guess that part of your brain has reasoned that the comfy ride and good tidings may be part of Satan's plan to ease you away from the organization and into a life that is diametrically opposed to your former pathway?

So, I assume by the comments that everybody on this thread no longer believes in malevolent spirits?
Dr John Dee & Eliphas Levi are worthwhile information sources to develop a faith in the spirit world again. Just don't say I sent you!

Do you think some people are better off with the borg?

he is trying to get reinstated.
we got into a semi-heated discussion and i gave him a lot of my anti-wt viewpoints, trying to get him to think for himself.

It is a strait-jacket for some and a liberator for others. Depends upon how you deal with the institution. Or indeed any institution. If a man or woman can use it is a vehicle for their own Christian righteousness, then it may serve it's purpose well.
I have a friend who is on the outside and he "had" been involved for nearly 27 years as a servant. His mind will not leave him alone and for the sake of his sanity, I hope he goes back. He has no coping mechanism in place and no perception of Christianity beyond the JW organization.
It is hideous to observe.

Are things REALLY getting worse? JWs are so pessimistic...
by somebodylovesme inone of the things that always puzzled me about the witnesses' doctrine was this idea that we are living in the worst time the world has ever seen - that the twentieth century has surpassed all others in death and destruction.
am i only the only crazy fool who thinks we have it pretty good?.
a hundred years ago, people died from diseases that are easily treated today.

Just to throw my miserable turd into the mix.
Yes, I do believe "things" are getting worse.
Things like:
1. Attitude within Western society. That "lack of love" that the Bible talks about. City life for the most part is disfiguring to the soul and this "ideal" is being sort by the world population in general. That "love of money" is driving the world into a hideous fenzy and helps develop that lovely "me first" ego trip. Beautiful.
2. The arms race. Yes, there have always been wars, yet there has not always been the desire and capability to develop those mystical "weapons of mass destruction". Remember the atom bomb anybody? Another love expanding piece of recent human activity. Let the war mongers step forward and try and convince you that peace and security is only possible by pointing a gun at another brothers head.
3. God is mocked and berated on mass. Again, a sign of our times.
4. The world eco system is being stretched so thin, that it will snap under pressure. Mother nature is being raped by man's pursuit of riches. That rape continues within this very hour, this very minute. How many precious species need to be wiped out, before we understand our own greed?
For sure friends, many of us here have wonderful cotton wool encased lives. How simply marvelous for "us" eh? We lucky few who exist in a buffer zone created by our own denial of the grim nature of reality.

What if field service reporting were done anonymously?
by eyeslice ina favorite watchtower quote has to be psalms 110:3 "your people will offer themselves willingly on the day of your military force.
" however, the way the field service reporting system works is based on hounding the brothers and sisters to fill in their report slips.
miss a month and you are bound to get a call from your book study conductor asking you why you haven't reported.

The reason I raised this topic is that I am currently fading and the elders are after me.
I know of (through a friend) one of Jehovah's Witnesses in a local congregation who did not put hours in at all and never went out in the ministry and when approached by the Elders he simply asked them to show him in the pages of the Bible where it said that a practising Christian "has to" go door to door in the ministry. Then, where does it say that you "have to" record hours and submit them. Of course he initially towed the line, but after a while the whole ministry process did not sit right with his conscience.
He was marked as being a weirdo and avoided, but he kept attending the meetings and apparently was a very kind and loving man to associate with if one dared to.
Strange eh

I was always puzzled how "hours in field ministry" had any correlation to how loving or how Christian a person is. Using that statistic to judge a person is like judging a car's performance merely by looking at the speedometer, rather than by all factors (handling, brakes, overall condition, etc.)
That is a very good point indeed !
